Please invite me over?
Former One Direction boy bander and current R&B-pop schmaltz king Zayn Malik has been in and out of headlines since releasing his solo debut LP Mind of Mine on March 25, 2016 (notable only because it was exactly one year to the day— March 25, 2015—when Z told the 1D boys he was quitting the group.) In those two years he’s teased some new music, lived on a farm, dated supermodel Gigi Hadid, only to break up one week ago and that’s...about all I’ve heard from the guy? Until today, when Variety scored pics of his new, $10,691,625 New York City’s Soho bachelor pad/loft/dream house. Let’s look into the humble abode, shall we?
The 3,597 square feet spot boasts of 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and is located in a “swanky, boutique building” in the lower Manhattan neighborhood. It’s one of three penthouse apartments “atop a handsomely restored, six-story former silk showroom built in 1877,” and Malik’s “blends preserved industrial era architectural features with high-tech creature comforts like radiant heated bathroom floors and a multi-zone heating and cooling system.” That’s not all:
“The penthouse’s front door opens less than ideally directly into a spacious, L-shaped combination living and dining space with more than half of a dozen cast iron columns, four tremendous southeast-facing sash windows, smoothly finished wide plank blonde hardwoods that run throughout the apartment and a gently undulating brick ceiling with muscular, exposed wood beams.”
I have never, not once in my doggone life, looked at wood beams and thought, “Wow, how exposed and muscular!” but I have also never been a member of the most successful boy band of all time and enjoyed the riches that come along with it. I do know, however, that this spot is so beautiful, and so expensive, it’s worth looking at and lusting over. Also, I live in NYC, so Zayn, what’s up?
