Like love, death and taxes, music festival season is a part of life. Get a running start; this year’s Coachella lineup—the musical programming for three days of sand, sweat, and sun in the steaming Indio, California desert—is here.
As always, it’s massive! Everyone who is anyone will be there. HAIM is performing. Aminé is performing. St. Vincent, SZA, Tyler the Creator, Cardi B: all performing. Portugal the Man?? They’re performing. Beyoncé, Eminem, and the Weeknd are gonna be there, and guess what? They’re headlining. So! Many! Artists! Will! Be! There!
Or are they? Former One Directioner Louis Tomlinson is not sure.
Maybe Louis is as tired of seeing headlines about the Coachella lineup as you are. Or maybe he thinks there are too many rappers/R&B/solo acts and not enough rock bands. I don’t know. I’ve spent some time thinking about it, and it could be either. I’ve found that probably the best way to remedy this is to have One Direction as a surprise guest at the festival. Or for Louis to curate his own music festival. Or both, ideally.
