If you are a Blink-182 fan in the year of 2017, please accept my sincerest apologies. For the last three years, the band has been on again/off again in a way that feels...kinda unprecedented in the pop-punk community? It’s actually worse than the time Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong announced he would destroy pop-punk, murdering the beautiful baby boy he gifted a generation.
Because you’ve probably forgotten all that has happened, let me walk you through it: DeLonge, founding guitarist of Blink-182, left the band in January of 2015. The next two years were filled with some really snotty back and forth and some honest-to-goodness bad blood (whoever started the “Tom left to search for UFOs” rumor deserves a gossip medal. Gossipys? I’ll get back to you.)
It looks like the guys might be trying to get it together, now, thank god—DeLonge posted the image below on Instagram, including a caption detailing time spent with Blink drummer Travis Barker, who did not fuck with him for a number of years. It reads: “And yes Blinkies, we also talked a bit about other stuff. :) #TravisandTomHoldingHands.”
I guess this is growing up.
