LeBron James is in the ideal, post-imperial, fuckless period of his reign. After defeating Golden State in 2016 to win his third career NBA title, there’s nothing left to prove. His legacy is safe, unless there’s still some debate about whether he’s the best to ever take the court. Now that he’s a superstar without a super-team, he’s an unlikely underdog, and it’s my favorite phase of LeBron.

When he isn’t busy racking up triple-doubles or mulling where to take his talents for the 2018 season, LeBron likes to listen to rap. Then he likes to post videos of himself listening, head-bobbing, and fist-pumping on Instagram, which is an immediate signal boost to his 34.1 million followers. It’s all pretty dorky and endearing.

Today, LeBron took his tastemaker status to another level by curating a playlist exclusively for Apple Music, as part of a partnership with Nike. As with any enterprise that’s conducted by a major streaming service, you have to question if LeBron was steered in any certain direction with the inclusions here, but they seem to reflect his taste well enough. There are two Drake tracks, two songs from the new Big Sean & Metro Boomin tape, some Meek Mill, a few throwbacks with Biggie and Fabolous & Jadakiss. But, there’s also a Chris Brown-sized blemish right near the beginning.

Chris Brown is bad, LeBron is good, therefore: LeBron, please stop listening to Chris Brown!!
