The Philadelphia Eagles are going to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2005. They’ll face off against the New England Patriots on Sunday, February 4 in Minneapolis—news that has inspired a white-hot euphoria into every Eagles fan and/or Philadelphia resident, and a dull sense of dread into perhaps everyone else. (What does everyone have against Eagles fans, eh?? Go birds!)
One of those fans is Pink, who grew up outside of Philly, and tweeted this last night when she remembered she would be performing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl:
Oh, you thought I was joking when I said Eagles fans across the board are experiencing white-hot pangs of joy? Pride so intense, it’s hitting them in the face and leaving them dumbstruck? I may not know sports but I am deeply familiar with loving something so much you forget how words work—that’s how bagels make me feel. So just leave this one to me, please. We could power cities with this, someone call a scientist now!
For that reason alone, the Eagles should win the 2018 Super Bowl, because I’d personally love to see what Pink could do with 280 Twitter characters if her beloved Birds take home the big sports ball trophy. Social media would explode. Philadelphia could potentially cease to exist. Everyone would get a cheesesteak. And a soft pretzel. Except Patriots fans. Nope nope nope.
