Fox News Host Calls Radiohead a "Poor-Man's Coldplay" and Honestly, He Has a Point?

via YouTube

Last week, Fox News host Kat Timpf appeared on The Greg Gutfeld Show and brought out a spicy take on the topic of Radiohead and their recent nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

“Seeing as it’s about fame and not talent, I think that Radiohead’s definitely going to get in, and should get in,” she said. “I don’t even like them, but the kind of guys that I like have to be three things: strange, malnourished, and sad. And those guys always like Radiohead!”

Radiohead fans were not happy! I like Radiohead, found the whole exchange kind of amusing, and wondered if Fox Viewer-in-Chief had ever listened to the band before. But apparently there was enough online blowback that Gutfeld and Timpf brought it up again during their show on Saturday, October 21. And Gutfeld gleefully stirred the pot even further: “You know Kat, the interesting thing is, Radiohead is a fine band, but they stole everything from Coldplay. Radiohead is the poor man’s Coldplay.” And then another guest cracked a cheap Nickelback joke which I will not address in this post.

Is Gutfeld completely (and perhaps intentionally) wrong about the timeline of Radiohead and Coldplay’s careers? Yes! If we compare how successful they’ve been, has Coldplay made more money than Radiohead? Yes! Is Radiohead worse than Coldplay? Probably not. But is Coldplay one of the greatest rock bands of the century anyway? Yes! Long live Chris Martin.

Watch Gutfeld try his hand at music criticism below, just past the 36-minute mark.
