Today it has been revealed that Diplo and Mark Ronson, two very busy musicians/producers/DJs/businessmen, have launched a new musical project called Silk City. While nothing (like, literally, nothing) is known about what this dang duo will sound like, the pair announced that they will make their live debut this June at New York City’s annual Governor’s Ball festival. Not Coachella, it should be noted, because that’s played out.
You may remember Diplo telling GQ last year that he went to work on a disco album with Ronson, so let’s hope this thing is groovy, baby.
Pitchfork reports that the name Silk City is taken from Silk City Diner & Lounge in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia, where Diplo started his career as a DJ. It also happens to be my favorite brunch spot in the city, so, I totally get those bloody mary boys. Dine on, my dudes!
