Finn Wolfhard continues to raise the bar for 14-year-olds everywhere (what were we even doing 9th grade?) The Stranger Things star and his rock band, Calpurnia, are now signed to Royal Mountain Records, according to NME. This bodes well for Wolfhard and his bandmates, as Royal Mountain is also home to more than a handful of indie rock bands with super dedicated followings, like Mac DeMarco, Alvvays, PUP, and Homeshake. Wolfhard happens to be a diehard fan of at least a few of these groups, covering and performing with Mac DeMarco in the past and starring in more than one PUP music video.
Calpurnia is now working on its debut EP, which will be produced by Twin Peaks frontman Cadien Lake James. Wolfhard said in a statement (via NME):
It is so sweet that we have such a good team at Royal Mountain Records. I love everyone on it. I’m extremely excited to record our EP with Cadien Lake James. Not only is he in one of my favourite bands of all time, and recorded some of my favourite songs, but he is also the sweetest guy ever. Thanks everyone so much who helped us out along the way, it means the world. <3
Congrats to Calpurnia! Hopefully we’ll hear more from them soon and actually find out what kind of rock music they make. Currently, the band only has one video up on its YouTube channel and it’s a cover of a Twin Peaks song.
Meanwhile, the guys also seem to be doing some important market research on their nascent Twitter account:
